Hooray for the Holidays! The most wonderful time of the year is almost here. And what better way to get into the spirit of the season than by attending Chico’s Christmas Preview?
What is the Christmas Preview?
For those unfamiliar with this historic Chico tradition, it’s a very merry occasion where downtown Chico merchants welcome residents to their businesses for refreshments and entertainment on one special date. Downtown is closed to cars so pedestrians can meander the shops and sights dressed up in their holiday best. It’s a great opportunity for folks to get a preview of seasonal wares, decor, and more!
When is it?
If you said “before Christmas,” good guess! The Christmas Preview brings its holly jolly spirit to Chico on November 20, 2022, from 4-8 pm. Every year the Downtown Chico Business Association outdoes itself to be the hosts with the most, and organizes special on-street events, activities, carolers, and a visit from Santa.
Beloved by many
There’s a reason the Christmas Preview is beloved by so many locals in Chico. Hometown pride meets holiday cheer at this decades-old event which debuted back in 1978. Friends and neighbors meet and stroll through the streets together, listening to live musical performances, shopping for holiday gifts, and sampling seasonal treats. Kids can be kids, and adults can be young at heart while wandering through this winter wonderland. Memories are made and moments are captured thanks to the photo booth in the Snapshots Photo Bus. Be sure to stop by Liberty Barbershop from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. to watch Santa get a new hairdo before he heads over to Santa’s Village for pictures at 5 p.m.
Shop local this season
By now you may have heard the retail cri de coeur, “shop local”! But why? Well, when you purchase something made by someone in this town, the money stays in Chico. By supporting our local economy, you support our community. And what better way to give gifts to the people you care for from the town you love?
